This Privacy Policy explains what information Trivii ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the Trivii family of games — Shows, Books, Films, Celebrities, Art, Geography, Sports, Music, Games, and Mix (collectively, the "Service") — and how we use it.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information: the email address and display name you provide when creating an account. Your password is never stored or seen by us directly — it's managed securely by our authentication provider.
Gameplay data: your streaks, wins, losses, badges, guess history, and other stats tied to your account, so your progress can sync across devices.
Community content: any puzzles you choose to create and publish, along with votes and comments tied to them.
Friend connections: if you add friends within the Service, we store that connection so we can show shared leaderboards.
Payment information: if you subscribe to Premium, payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic subscription status.
Local device storage: we use your browser's local storage to remember things like your theme preference and in-progress puzzle state, even before you sign in.

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate the Service — saving your progress, syncing stats across games, and displaying leaderboards.
To process Premium subscription payments and manage billing.
To send account-related emails (like sign-in confirmations or password resets).
To maintain the security and integrity of the Service, including moderating community content.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers necessary to run Trivii:

Supabase — hosts our database and handles account authentication.
Stripe — processes Premium subscription payments.
Resend — delivers account-related emails.

These providers only receive the information they need to perform their specific function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information and gameplay data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain records (for example, payment records for tax purposes).

5. Your Rights

You can request to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us at theonlytrivia@trivii.net. If you're located in the EU/UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific data protection laws, you may have additional rights under those laws — contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate them.

6. Children's Privacy

Trivii is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at theonlytrivia@trivii.net so we can remove it.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
